Main Attractions of Turtle Head Isle Park
Yuanzhu Chuntao
- It is one of the core scenic spots of Yuantouzhu, located at the "turtle head" area of Yuantouzhu. It includes a lighthouse, the "Yuantouzhu" stone tablet, and the "Hengyun" cliff stone carvings1.
- The lighthouse was built by Hua Tirong, a native of Wuxi, Jiangsu Province in 1920 and was completely renovated by Li Zheng in 1982. The height of the lighthouse was increased from 12.56 meters to 13.1 meters, and it was covered with Jinshan stone, with a double-eave glazed roof1.
- On the east side of the lighthouse, there is a stone tablet more than 2 meters high. The front side is engraved with the three characters "Yuantouzhu", written by Qin Dunshi, one of the "Seven Sons of Liangxi". The back side is engraved with the four characters "Yuanzhu Chuntao", originally written by Liu Chunlin, the number one scholar in the late Qing Dynasty1.
Cherry Blossom Valley
- Located at the northern foot of Luding Mountain in Yuantouzhu, it was completed and opened in March 2010, adjacent to the Sino-Japanese Cherry Blossom Friendship Forest established in 1988 at the foot of Luding Mountain1.
- There are 68 varieties of cherry blossoms with more than 30,000 trees, covering an area of 200,000 square meters, known as the "No. 1 Cherry Blossom Viewing Place in China". The scenic spot combines traditional Chinese garden design with the characteristics of cherry blossoms, and the layout of the scenic spot is adjusted according to the different flowering periods of cherry blossom varieties1.
- There are also some buildings such as the Cherry Blossom Viewing Tower, Wuxi Renjie Yuan, Nieyun Pavilion, and Cuchun Bridge in the scenic spot. The Cherry Blossom Viewing Tower is located in the south of the Cherry Blossom Valley. It is a three-story, four-eave building in the national style, built on the Cherry Blossom Viewing Platform surrounded by white marble railings1.
Wanlang Juanxue
- This scenic spot is located at the small cove on the southwest foot of Chongshan Mountain. It mainly takes Wanlang Bridge and the curved embankment as the main viewing points1.
- Wanlang Bridge was built in the late 1920s and overhauled in 1962. The two ends of the bridge are connected to a semicircular long embankment1.
- There are some buildings such as Wang Kunlun's former residence, Guangfu Temple, Taozhu Pavilion, and Wanfang Tower on both sides of the scenic spot1.
Luding Yinghui
- Located to the east of Chongshan Mountain in Yuantouzhu, it was completed at the end of 19851.
- The highest point of Luding Mountain is about 96 meters. There are buildings such as Shutian Pavilion, Huanbi Tower, deer sculptures, stele shadow walls, Youyou Pavilion, and Tahua Pavilion distributed on the top and mountainside1.
- The name "Luding Mountain" comes from a legend. In the Wuxi dialect, "six" is homophonic with "deer", and there is a legend that King Wu of Wu liked to raise deer in ancient times, so the mountain is named "Luding"1.
Taihu Fairy Island
- Composed of four small islands, it is also called Sanshan Island or Turtle Hill.
- There are Taoist palaces, Buddhist statues, and other attractions on the island. The statue of the Jade Emperor is 18 meters high and is the most famous attraction on the island.
- Hiking on the hills of the island can not only provide you with a beautiful view of the boats on Taihu Lake but also give you a sense of the vastness of the lake.
Jiangnan Lanyuan
- Located at the northeast foot of Chongshan Mountain in Yuantouzhu, it was built in 1987 and opened to the public on March 20, 19891.
- It is an orchid garden mainly for cultivating and viewing orchids, covering an area of about 0.025 square kilometers1.
- The scenic spot preserves thousands of orchid varieties and collects a large number of celebrity calligraphy and paintings. In 1989, it was listed as the Orchid Germplasm Resources Conservation and Research Center by the Botanical Society of China1.
- The scenic spot is designed and supervised by Wu Huiliang, with Chinese classical garden architecture as the main internal structure, and buildings such as Guoxiang Pavilion and Lvyun Xuan are built. Various orchids are integrated into the garden landscape1.
Hushan Zhenyi
- Also known as Zheng Yuan, it is located to the south of Yixiu Bridge at the foot of Luding Mountain in Yuantouzhu1.
- It was originally built by Zheng Mingshan, a national industrial and commercial entrepreneur in Wuxi in 1931, and was rebuilt into the Hushan Zhenyi scenic spot in 19831.
- There are caves, stone peaks, rockeries, pavilions, and small bridges in the scenic spot1.
- On the stone wall near the gate tower opposite Yixiu Bridge, there are four large characters "Hushan Zhenyi" written by Ji Pengfei
