1. Introduction
The Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge is a double-decked road-rail truss bridge across the Yangtze River in Nanjing, Jiangsu, China. It connects the city's Pukou and Gulou Districts. It is a remarkable engineering feat and a symbol of China's independent construction ability. The upper deck is part of China National Highway 104, which is 4,588 meters (15,052 ft) long. The lower deck is a double-track railway that is 6,772 meters (22,218 ft) long and is an important part of the Beijing-Shanghai Railway. It was completed and opened to traffic in 1968 and was the first major bridge designed and built using Chinese expertise.

2. How to Get There
 

  • By Public Transport: You can take buses such as No. 12, 15, 67, 69, or 307 to Daqiao Park, and then cross the bridge in front of the buses to Fukou and Dachang. You can also take Metro Line 3 to Jiming Temple Station and then walk for about 20 minutes to reach the bridge.
  • By Taxi or Self-Driving: If you choose to travel by taxi or drive by yourself, you can follow the navigation to the bridge. However, be aware of the traffic conditions, especially during peak hours.

3. Tickets and Opening Hours

  • Tickets: Admission to the bridge is free.
  • Opening Hours: It is open 24 hours a day throughout the year2.

4. Main Attractions

  • Bridge Structure: The bridge is constructed in a traditional Chinese style with a double-convex arch. There are 200 cast iron embossments inlaid on the bridge, which are of great artistic value.
  • High 桥头堡 (High Bridgehead Towers): There are two high bridgehead towers at both ends of the bridge, which are about 230 feet high. They are not only an important part of the bridge's structure but also serve as landmarks of Nanjing.
  • Viewing Spots: In the center of the bridge is an excellent spot to take photos of the Yangtze River and the surrounding areas. There is also an elevator that can take visitors to a viewing platform where they can have a better view of the Yangtze River and the bridge.
  • Under-Bridge Park: Under the south bridge tower, there is a Daqiao Park, where you can relax and enjoy the scenery of the bridge and the river.
