Ping'an Zhuang Village Travel Guide

  • General Introduction

    • Location: Ping'an Zhuang Village is located in Longsheng County, Guilin City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. It is in the middle of the Longji Terraced Field, more than 1,200 meters above sea level.
    • History and Culture: The village was originally built in the end of the Ming Dynasty. It is a well-preserved Zhuang ethnic village, where the Zhuang ethnic culture and lifestyle are well maintained.
    • Scenic Features: The village is surrounded by forests and terraced fields, and the traditional three-floor wooden buildings feature the typical architectural style in northern Guangxi. The quiet and elegant environment makes it a great place to experience the charm of rural life.

  • Main Attractions

    • Longji Terraced Field: This is the top attraction in Ping'an Zhuang Village. The terraced fields are like chains and belts, winding from the foot of the mountain to the top. The small mountains are like snails and the big mountains are like towers, layer upon layer, scattered in an orderly manner4.
    • Nine Dragons and Five Tigers: On the first viewing platform in the Ping'an Zhuang Terraced Field, you can see this spectacle. Looking from a distance, the nine mountain ridges look like nine dragons coming down from the sky to drink water from the Jinjiang River, and next to them are five small mountain heads that look like tigers, guarding this land1.
    • Seven Stars Accompanying the Moon: This is another famous scenic spot in the village. The seven small hillocks left over from the original land reclamation are like seven little stars accompanying the moon-like terraced fields, presenting a beautiful and poetic landscape.

  • Best Time to Visit

    • The best travel time is from May to June, September, and October. In particular, around April 15th in the lunar calendar when the villagers transplant rice seedlings and draw off the water, and in September in the lunar calendar after the rice is mature, these are the most beautiful times of the year. The terraced fields show different colors and sceneries in different seasons, such as the silver color in spring, the green belt in summer, the golden pagodas in autumn, and the silver world in winter.
